Just organising a short trip in the 2nd week of the school holidays. Planning on heading up the north coast and would like to stay somewhere near the beach (hopefully not too crowded). After looking at some sites have come down to a few which sound OK. They are Booti Booti National Park, Arakoon State Conservation Area and Crowdy Bay National Park. Has anyone stayed at these areas or can give other suggestions to places in the area which would be good to camp at.

Try Cresent Head- Point Plomer area. Not easy to get to for 2 wheel drive cars.

Both brother-in-laws rate Crescent Head, and also Point Plomer - never been there myself, but they both rate both places (and they live on the coast).....

Been going to that area for about 30 years now and love it gets very crowded around xmas and can also be crowded around other school holidays.

All the best

Was at Diamond head 18 months ago, they had closed a third of the camping area due to "unsafe trees"....this was around the time a few people had been killed by falling trees in N

ational parks (don't know what just happend)

It was and Australia day long weekend and we just scrapped in.

If you plan to stay at Diamond Head I think you have to take your own water or drive somewhere to refill (they have bore water for washing and showers, they have amenities but there is no hot water for the showers)

One other thing

Beach permits

North of Diamond Head is run by Hastings Council.

South from Kylies beach down to Hawks Nest is run by Taree council.

So either get both permits or pick south or north

Hi There,

I have been to both Booti Booti and Point Plomer. Both great places but i prefer Booti Booti as it has hot showers (You can tell i'm a girl). Also plomer is bore water so yeah take some with you, but both places are unreal though. I've had some excellent times at both.
