Hello all, just back from 2 weeks on fraser quick update for those interested,Towed corromal 420 magnam pop top van with 3 litre gu,no problem towing van in soft sand anywhere,temp approx 25 deg down to 8 deg at night.tailor are on the bite,beer is $56 per 30 can case, 4 litre wine cask $20 ,diesal $1.41 /litre,cost for barge $100 return for patrol and van on manta rayHire troopies always a danger beware,two rolled while i was there,occupants air lifted out.the full length of western beach from barge landing to lighthouse at the cape is driveable.There is now a bypass around ngalla rocks easy quick trip to the cape now. Still fantastic place to visit.

Yes it is the eastern beach,but also travelled a small distance on beach at moon point,only around 1 klm.nearly all western beach is inaccessable except moon point,wathumba etc.

Brian went to fraser IS in 1979 spent 2 weeks on it had a ball.
We travelled right around the top and past the light house can you still do this and is it one way onlt across the ISland.
I have been thinkibg of going back.

Eric,officially the lighthouse is as far as you can go now after that beach closed to vehicles,also some inland roads you saw are now closed or othervise now one way and signifigantly upgraded since 1979 lots of boards now on boggy uphill sections making travel easier,would like to do trip up your way but just too far from here,difficult to get more than three weeks holiday at one time.
