Hi
I checked out other forums regarding trailer insurance.
My problem is I built the trailer and had a canvas company make the Tent top, because I 'm not a licence engineer, I am having trouble getting insurance.
I've tried NRMA, which we have everything else we own insured with, plus AAMI who won't come to the party either.
Has anyone got any ideas as I don't feel like travelling half way around Australia without insurance.

Hi Shawie,
Correct me if i am wrong here but as far as i am aware trailers are covered by the towing vehicle in the case of an accident. but now that you mention it, I really havent thought of insuring it for goods stolen. Thanks for bringing it up i will have to look into that too. Hope you find a solution, I will ring NRMA as soon as i finish the modifications I am doing to it. I will let you know how it goes.
Regards Angelo

Why are you having problems. Cause YOU built it.
Do they need a Vin plate or something ?
My CT is insured with NRMA. Its a commercial product though.

The insurance company requires the trailer make, and when I mention it is homemade, they say there policy does not cover homemade trailers.
I have a VIN No

Register a business name, isnt that only $50 or something ABN and all... claim the trailer costs as business related, and call your company Shaw Trailers. They probably wouldnt have an issue then. Dont say its home made, its a Shaw Built Trailer. :)

Thanks for your help, I might have to try this as a last resort, if I can't get anywhere.
