Hello peeps...I think i need some help here....I want to do some 4wd driving through some isolated areas to experience a little outback....We will be travelling from
Wiluna to
Everard Junction then onto Gary Highway to Windy Cnr then onto
the
Talawana Track to
well 23/24 then onto
Newman...We plan to be away around 12 days to do some
camping and just to get away...I have been through the
Gibb river road and thought that was a good first time experience to 4wdriving....So we thought a trip like the one i just mentioned would mean a little more experience for me....little bit at a time...
I was hoping someone may have done this trip before and could tell me a little of what to expect...I would love to do the
canning stock route from Ned's
creek rd through to
well 23/24 but have been told that going on our own would and could be risky so we have decided to do the above trip instead...
Im very dissapointed about the
canning stock route even though we would only be doing 23-24 wells...I have been told the dunes are big and safer with two 4wd's...
Anyways if some one could tell me a little more about what we have planned and what to expect and what gear to take out there i would be very grateful indeed...
We would be leaving earlly Oct...
This
forum is a wonderful thing and i have done many trips now thanks to all that respond...
cheers Phil

friends did the
Gary Junction all the way through to
Alice Springs a couple of weeks ago and said it was like a highway. Plan your fuel trips though.
Not sure abaout Talwana track as I think that's been washed out pretty bad with heavy rains earlier this year. Might pay to look into that one a bit harder but there's a few options out there anyways.
Sounds like a good trip.
If you send a member message to Steve (his post re
Gary Junction) he will give you all further details
