G-DAY ALL,
CONSIDERING FITTING COMPLETE NEW
SUSPENSION TO 2003 I.F.S.(30000 KMS) DUAL CAB T/D HILUX. RUNNING A FEW EXTRAS (UPPING THE WEIGHT) BULL BAR, SIDE STEPS WITH RAILS, BRUSH BARS, WINCH, LONGRANGER, DUAL BATTERIES (LOCATED IN
THE TUB), STEP REAR TOW BAR, CANOPY AND ROOF RACKS. I AM A TRADEY SO THE RIG GETS LOADED WITH
TOOLS DURING THE WEEK AND
CAMPING STUFF ON THE WEEKEND (HIGH COUNTRY ETC). THE
SUSPENSION SEEMS TO COPE AT THE MOMENT BUT AM INTERESTED TO KNOW JUST HOW MUCH BETTER THE RIG WOULD BE WITH SOME AFTER MARKET UPGRADES. CONSIDERING EFS, OME AND RANCHO BUT AM VERY OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS.

G'day Digga
I don't wish to rain on your parade but from what I've seen of these rigs in action, you are constrained by the leaf sprung rear as the major limiting factor.
So back to your initial question ... how many dollars are you prepared to spend and for said dollars how much improvement do you expect.
You may find yourself spending mucho dollaros for no appreciable gain.
Just a few thoughts to cogitate over.
Cheers

Rosco,
I've been away with an IFS Hilux (and drive an IFS Rodeo) and I would think the major limiting factor with these is the front
suspension. The rear is as good as any other leaf sprung fourby.

Cobber
You are quite correct of course. I just didn't wish to appear too negative.
The other aspect which amazes me is that after spending a swag of muns on a new vehicle, it seems it may be necessary to turn around and spend an extra motsa on
suspension upgrades ... am I missing something here??

It's all about clearance for me. To fit a set of 285/75/16 mudders under to give the diff a bit more clearance and keep the kinsley dintable and pretty much usless sidesteps off
the humps in the dirt when in the rough stuff. Handling improves as
well with lotsa stuff like
winches, bullbars, sidebars, _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx etc with aftermarket
suspension.
Found the stock
suspension very drifty and floaty...YUCK!

Yeah Mate,
checked out
http://www.bigballsoffroad.com/prod202.htm, WICKED.. $3500 is a bit out of my league 4
suspension. Have a budget of 5 grand but am hoping to air lock the front and rear as
well. Have my heart set on the lockers and vehicle is booked in for monday week.
Still hoping to hear from someone who has done the whole new, front torsions, rear leaves, steering stabiliser and new shockers with greasable shackles..
