Hey guys. Well, what a day!!! I actually took the day off work to sort everything out.

Got the truck checked out as reccommended by some ppl here. "Thornleigh Auto Body Alignment" were fantastic! I rang them up (9484 7623), and they told me to come in 2 hours to get the chassis checked! This is truly amazing. The one other shop I went to, said they may need the car for 5 days. You could see him salivating at the mouth when he heard "insurance job". GIO reccommended Thorneligh, and I can see why! It was all computerised, and on a hoist, and no setting up or anything! Top notch!

So the outcome was 4mm out, both sides in the middle of the truck(which indicates that it may have been bent/pushed upwards on impact). Now they allow 5mm on chassis from factory, and the fact it was the same on both sides may mean it was like that from factory. ...anyway, the boys there said not to worry, to just forget about it!

So all in all, a good outcome.(As good an outcome from your 4B falling off a hoist as can be expected). No one dead, and my truck just aesthetically damaged.

I just wanna thank everyone who showed support and gave advice. This forum and it's contibutors are truly invaluable.

Still waiting on a response form EO on whether I can write the name of the co. who did this. Everybody else who I have spoken too said that it was just incompetence and egligence.

I found out the hoist was rated, but they just put the rubber stops in the wrong place. Shoulda been on the rails as some wise fellow said. So mistake was made, bleephappened, and cae la vie!

But I still think that ppl have a right to know who did it, coz this sort of mistake SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! They still claim hoist failure, but either way, it's just not on!

Head Office have contacted me, and I'll be interested in seeing what they do(if anything) to compensate me for my time/money/ and bloody anguish!!!

Thanks Again

Although I agree with Davoe that this a disturbing event. I personally don't agree with suing anybody for anything simply because as pjd stated re insurance premiums. I have said it before that if you are not part of the solution you are a part of the problem.

Waveslave I hope you sort it all out and remember you can always find a positive out of a negative situation if you choose to.

Regards

Peter

WaveSlave,

We have not seen any email request about this issue from you. In any case I have just emailed you about it.

Hey all,

OK GOOD, freedom of speech still lives. I can still post the name of the business. I want to see how they handle it first, before I do. If they do the right thing by me, then that goes a a long way to compensating me. We shall see, but just know that if they (heaD OFFICE) are as uncaring and rude as the store was, then you will hear it hear first!

Cheers Peeps.

Wave slave this reminds me of when I owned my old 45s toyoyta .
Took It to a place to get some exhaust work done.
I was sitting in the waiting room wile they were doing it.
I heard a loud bang then crashing sound.
They put the truck on hoist lifted it and roof rack when through the work shop roof.

Now that was a good laugh.

No damage to anything or one.

All the best
Eric

Waveslave,

Just remember if you get no satisfaction from the Head Office, the Tabloid TV just loves these sorts of stories, esp if large national coy involved. 9 and 7 specialise in this sort of stuff.

Poor owner ripped off by unscrupulous national chain indulging in unsafe work practices using untrained staff etc etc. Owner left to foot bill, staff member almost killed. Owners wife in tears. Children upset it goes on and on.

Great stuff for Tabloid TV. !!!

Cheers

Yeah too right,

But ya know what, I'm sure that there are a lot of hardworking franchise owners out there that would suffer from that. I don't wanna screw peoples lives.....So head office, if you read this, you've been warned
