Hey guys.
Well, what a day!!! I actually took the day off work to sort everything out.
Got the truck checked out as reccommended by some ppl here. "Thornleigh Auto Body Alignment" were fantastic! I rang them up (9484 7623), and they told me to come in 2 hours to get the chassis checked! This is truly amazing. The one other
shop I went to, said they may need the car for 5 days. You could see him salivating at the mouth when he heard "insurance job". GIO reccommended Thorneligh, and I can see why! It was all computerised, and on a hoist, and no setting up or anything! Top notch!
So the outcome was 4mm out, both sides in the middle of the truck(which indicates that it may have been bent/pushed upwards on impact). Now they allow 5mm on chassis from factory, and the fact it was the same on both sides may mean it was like that from factory. ...anyway, the boys there said not to worry, to just forget about it!
So all in all, a good outcome.(As good an outcome from your 4B falling off a hoist as can be expected). No one dead, and my truck just aesthetically damaged.
I just wanna thank everyone who showed support and gave advice. This
forum and it's contibutors are truly invaluable.
Still waiting on a response form EO on whether I can write the name of the co. who did this. Everybody else who I have spoken too said that it was just incompetence and egligence.
I found out the hoist was rated, but they just put the rubber stops in the wrong place. Shoulda been on the rails as some wise fellow said. So mistake was made, bleephappened, and cae la vie!
But I still think that ppl have a right to know who did it, coz this sort of mistake SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! They still claim hoist failure, but either way, it's just not on!
Head Office have contacted me, and I'll be interested in seeing what they do(if anything) to compensate me for my time/money/ and bloody anguish!!!
Thanks Again
