Recently picked up a Landcruiser 100 series and wondering where to put CB.

I have a Uniden UH090 (FM/AM). (I've now transferred it out of 2 vehicles and it's still as good as the day I bought it!)

On Jackeroo I had it next to drivers seat on consol, on Defender I had it on back of cubby box.

Where do people mount the CB's on LC100?

Thanks.

Mine is mounted on the driver side of the centre console. But Mike mount it where ever you are happy.

I stood around scratching my head on a few occasions trying to solve the same problem. Couldn't come up with a suitable position, so didn't bother. Can't really say I miss it either. If I had no choice, I guess I'd put it at the rear of the consol box
on a bracket that still allowed the lid to open !

You really need a detachable face unit, but if you are like me, and dint want to buy one, you either have to put it in the way on the side of the console, in a dash pod, in a roof console, or like me, double sided tape (the proper stuff) to the top of the dash. I agonised over it for ages, and the GPS is mounted the same.

I have a dash mat, and just cut out a hole the size of the radios mounting bracket where I wanted it, (I have an Icom radio, and they have a large bracket, with lots of surface area) cleaned the area with metho, then stuck the bracket on. Wires and coax are routewd under carpet dash mat to the pillar, where Ive routed the cables down behind the trim.
Altho Im not a fan of the asthetics of this, it doesnt look that bad, and is brilliant to use, and so far, I have had no problems at all with vibrations or anything else. (the tape is supposed to hold like 80 kilos or something, so Im guessing my biggest problem is going to be removing the tape if I ever need to)

Hey Mike, I have a std 100, 2002, didnt relize how hard it was to store /mount stuff untill i owned this thing. I ended buying an out back roof console. Bit of a bugger having to shell out a few more hundred $$ just to find somewhere to install the cB, but it turned out being a good buy, - looks "Factory", extra drop down shelf for wallet, sunnies etc.

Mate has a GXL, we mounted his UHF on the back of the cnr console. sort of "piggy backed " i spose..

Mike,
I had a gme 4400 to mount into my gxl100 but could not really find anywhere good to mount it, unless I bought a dash pod. My solution was I sold the 4400 on ebay and bought a 3400 (remote head unit) also on ebay (similar $$$), problem solved with the head unit mounted to the centre console using double sided tape, perfect.

We have a 100L/C Poverty Pack, mounted our Uniden CB/UHF in the centre of the dash. Below the standard radio there is a small removeable fascia piece, behind which is a hole/box incorporated into the framework that holds the whole dash panel in place. To acess this area just unclip the face piece of the centre of the dash.QED.

Ay Mike,

I have a 100GXL and remote head GME 3400. I removed the cover from the front of the ash tray and mounted the bracket and remote head on that. Now I can still use the ash tray (still slides in and out) and will replace the cover when we move on from this vehicle. Very convenient, no holes to repair later.

Hi Mike

On my 100 Series I had replaced the original Double Din stereo with a single Din MP3 player. This freed up a single Din space just nice for the GME 4400 UHF.
Looks like a factory install and is in the perfect space for operation.

Mike

We have a GME 3200 - it is mounted on the right of the stearing wheel just above the fuel, bonnet catches. Works well there but only the driver can use it easily. If we were doing it again would look at overhead console.

Cheers
