Hi Truckster
Try this for site for rain and temperature guide.
http://www.queenslandtravel.com/menu_qtc.asp
We were there July/Aug 2 years ago and it was very warm to very hot then.
As for road conditions, all I can say is they get worse as the season goes along and depending how the bush cowboys treated them when they went through.
We have some friends doing the cape next year at almost the same time.
Anyway, hope he enjoys himself.
Hint:- Tell him to take his time and watchout for the idiots returning (on the narrower roads) who want to make it home yesterday.

Roscoe should currently be up there I think and due to return in about three weeks if that's any help.
He may even check this site while away and be able to fill you in on how it is at present.

Trukster - my rellies on the cane farm up north are hoping the wet holds off until after the crushing (due to complete early Dec in most
places). But the build up to the wet (assuming there's gonna be one this year) starts in about Nov.
FYI - the heat etc is entirely relative - it is hot compared to down this way but your Sth African oppo won't feel it. Doesn't really get oppressive until Christmas and goes through Jan and Feb.
Cheers
Pete

Truckster as pete said the wet season dosnt normaly start until early december. But could be january.
As per the heat days will be hot and
drinking water could be an issue.
I would not be relying on the creeks for
water a few could be alrite.
Not all the shops will be open either.
They run there stocks down that time of year.
All the best
Eric
