This is my first 4WD.
I have just purchased a January 2004 (bought in May 2004) Nissan Patrol 3.0 Litre Turbo Diesel (Automatic) 5000 kilometres. Just enquiring what the fuel consumption would be for city driving as well as highway driving. The sticker on the windscreen said the fuel comsumption was 10.8 litres per 100 kilometres.
Thanks for your help.

Ian, welcome to the world of 4WD'ing and now that you own the best 4WD on the planet, im sure you'll soon be hooked and will never go back to a conventional vehicle. I think the stickers on the windscreen are based on averages between city and highway. I would only use them as a guide.

Hope you have tons of fun in the new love of your life.

ps have you joined a 4WD club yet?

Ian and Don,

Beware,

There are people on this forum who will bag you for your choice of vehicle.

The Nissan v Toyota debate can get ugly at times with some infantile commentary. Enjoy your fine vehicles as others enjoy their's.

Most of the decent people on this forum are fairly objective and will be very helpful.

Unfortunately others may have some misguided brand loyalty.

There are many wonderful vehicles from a myriad of manufacturers available and we can all enjoy them.

Cheers,

Great fun ladies. I just love to watch the banter. The beauty of driving an Hyundai is that no-one takes you seriously. My only previous 4wd was a Patrol and it was wonderful. Was it better or worse than a Toyota?

Buggered if I know and I don't care. It served me well and that is all that matters.

Sooner or later it will come out that at one stage I also owned a Lada Niva. Now that was a mistake that I have to be true to myself about.

Now you can all kick the dung out of me and I won't be able to defend myself. LOL (well actually I cried a little at the time).

Hi Ian,
I have a late 2002 model that I purchased new in January 2003. So far 40,000k's and no problems. Mine too is auto and I am doing between 10.5 and 11L/100km around town. The best I have had on a country run was 8.7 but I have had as bad as 13.5, towing with a head wind. Not too bad for a 2.5 tonn vehicle!

Well done. Now for all the extra toys to trick it up, that makes it real fun. How deep are the pockets ?
Go to Trip Planning / Fuel Consumption at the top of the page and select your type of vehicle & you'll get a good idea of what the others use on different trips.

I was enquiring about fuel consumption because mine does appear to be using too much.
I am checking it again now.

Ian,

I have a 5 speed 3.0 Litre and achieve at best 12 litres / 100Km. The load was 5 adults + supplies.
Get a little worse in town and when towing camper.

I have a 2003 TD Auto, I get 10l/100 km on a trip and at worse around town 12.5 l /100km. normal around 11.5 l /100km but have stopped measuring. Seems to make no differance if towing?
regards
Mike
