GU 2.8 Owners HELP!!!!

I have just purchised a duel battery kit from BRAWN and tried to fit it today.However the instuctions are woeful at best OR i,m missing the point.
I removed the expansion tank,Vaccumm tank and the three solinoids and try as i might could not get it to fit.
Instuction sheet just says to fit it LHS of engine as a mirror image of the exiting battery tray, no mention of what do with removed parts ect. Also once its in place it does,nt sit flush with exiting panel work so i,m not keen to drill holes in my pride and joy.
Any help greatly appriciated

Guess nobody can do much tonight Nino, but I'm sure Brawn would love to talk with you in the morning, they are a pretty helpful mob. I'm looking for something I think they have so will be calling them myself.

Nino, I installed a 2nd battery in a 2.8 GU about 6 years ago and it was a bugger of a job that took a fair bit of fiddling with to get right. I've since sold the car, so this is from memory. And like you, I didn't get any instructions.
The tray is essentially mounted on the firewall on the left hand side, with the long side of the battery facing the front.
Remove the vacuum fittings including the bracket and tie it out of the way while you install the tray. (I think you also have to slightly bend an A/C pipe out of the way). The holes in the bottom of the tray should line up with existing bolt holes in the top of the wheel arch.
A few inches down from the top of the engine bay on the firewall is a lip or ridge sticking out with a plastic strip on it. The top bracket should line up with this. You will need to drill a hole through that lip and bolt thru it. Your battery tray should now be in place.
Now to tidy up the vacuum controls. They bolt onto the side of the battery tray, but I'm sorry I can't remember if they were on the front or engine side of the tray. One of the bracket's feet (possibly more, I can't remember) will have to be bent the wrong way to line up with the tray. It is only soft metal which can be easily bent with pliers or multigrips. It then bolts on (I think sideways). There's not much room and it will take a fair bit of fiddling to fit it in. If this sounds fairly simple, it took the best part of a day for a couple of blokes to figure it all out. Good luck!

I have the ARB battery tray - suits up to N70. While this isn't the Brawn design I would think that it fits in the same space.

Fitment is not mirror image of existing tray, rather diagonally opposite i.e. LHS against firewall. The only part I had to remove was the bracket holding three solenoids and this then mounted to side of battery tray, attached via pre-drilled holes. The vacuum tank did not need to be removed or relocated. The aircon plumbing did not have to be disturbed either.

The tray was mounted using lower bracket on tray which bolts into existing captive nut on wheel arch and a bracket on tray that rests on the firewall flange. The latter required drilling of two holes (10mm dia) through the firewall flange to suit M8 bolts which screw into a backing plate with captive nuts (came in the ARB kit).

I can send you photo's if you like. I may also have the ARB instructions that I could send/fax to you.
