what is the fuel economy of a 4.2 petrol patrol if its lpg converted, also are there any implications with doing the dual fuel change, or is it still healthy for the car

The heads have major issues with failing on LPG. You can beat it and get them fixed first, for about $1000+ LPG conversion..
From a poll on the GQ
forum of LPG only GQs
15-17 / 100 22.22%
18-20/100 22.22%
I dream of better than that 4 44.44%
Other 11.11%

Take my word for it. It's NOT worth it. You get crap performance and they never really work on both LPG and Fuel. We have 1990 Ti GQ Patrol and could never get it to run efficiently on both. We just converted back to straight fuel and have had no end of trouble with fuel pumps, the
snorkel and timing/points.
We had the work done just before leaving for a couple of weeks up at the Cape. Yes it was a shock paying $1.50/litre for fuel at the
Lockhart River but then at least we could get fuel.
Also remember that the gas
tank hangs low underneath the car.

GQ are like most cars . Drop new valve seats in the head and change the guides before the conversion. The vave should be ok but dont take my word on it ask about.
Tank fits in the rear of the car.Pro and cons of this is Its very cheep! however it take up a lot of room. Putting the
tank under the cab requires a new fuel
tank thats about 1/3 smaller. very expensive!
timing is retarted for lpg so the car uses more fuel in all points of travel.I would expect 4 to 4.5 km a ltr for gas and 5-7 for petrol.
The result these days is lpg is just not as viable as it was 10 years ago. In five years time the are still talking about chargeing an excist on lpg so expect it to go up to 95 percent of petrol prices.
As for problems with lpg I have found Lpg to be one of the easiest simple systems about It dosnt effect you feul pump. it dosnt have any effect on your timing .It can cause guide and
seat wear. Thats why you change them first .However there are maintance items in the system. Do clear the filter in the convertor every 12 months.and clean the mixer every 6 months.
Mind you oilers have a lot going for them.....no points or coils.....8 - 12 kms a ltr.....
