How are you going fellas

Me and the missus are about to forge our way from Brissie to Melbourne in about a fortnight. We are following a tour book. The trip will take us through lots of NP's in NSW and Vic. The book does not say much about 4x4 permits required for any of these.

Can any of you southerners tell me wether I need permits and where I might be able to get them from. Is there a blanket permit for the whole state, or do I need individual permits for each park?

This could prove to be all very confusing!

Thanks
Glenn

hi there, you can get a NSW parks pass for $60 or $80 for one that includes the snowy mountains parks as well. covers all parks in NSW but of course you will still need to pay for camping fees.. if applicable. Thanks for the link.

I notice that there a not a lot of parks listed that require you to purchase a pass. Looking at the track we are taking, there is only a couple of parks that we will have to pay to get in to. So i might be better off just getting day passes as required.

Is there permits required for the rest of the NP's in NSW?

If its not listed , they aren't required.

There are quite a number where you don't have to pay . . . could be a simple case of wroking out where you are going . . . which parks you are visiting , and working it out from there.

Oh yeah , you can get a pass at the park. Honesty boxes.

Glen,

All of the popular parks in NSW will cost you to enter, from memory about $5 - $10 per vehicle per day. Camping fees are extra on top of that. Your best option would to be to buy an All Parks Pass (minus the Kosiosko (?) Pass) which from memory was about $60. This will give you unlimited entry into all NSW Parks and Nature Reserves except for the Kosiosko (?) which is around $20 per vehicle per entry. In the end you should save money rather than trying to pay individually. Remember in NSW you pay for everything. You can buy it online at the link in the above replies.

yeah, just for the simplicity, pay the $65 bucks, cheap at the end of the day. Maybe be once he sees how good NSW is he might stay and then he can use the pass for the rest of the year!!!!!

STAY!!!!!!

Not Likely, I actually from North Queensland, (albeit about 12 years ago) and i think Brissie is too cold! It's been a bad weekend for queenslanders with the football and all, (both of them) but it's not that bad. Spring here is always awesome!

Thanks for the help guy's, can't wait to get dirty!

I've still got not idea about Vic, if any one else can help!

There is no blanket pass available in Vic. Most parks are free to enter but a number do have a camping fee. Check with the Parks Vic website for each individual park.
