Hello
We are currently using the CIO Tornado Extended Touring tent with a centre pole but are thinking of buying the side poles. It would be great to know if anyone has had any experiences with this, is it a worthwhile purchase?
Cheers
Mel

If they are same as
Southern Cross tent, they are a MUST...
Well worth it. The centerpole is a pure misery to walk round, try and sleep around, and get in the way when ya gettin dressed!

Thanks Truckster - I guess the only real good thing about a centre pole is it comes in handy for haning things off. Do the side poles take much longer to set up? Our purposes for choosing a touring tent was to limit set up time for overnight stops.

Sidepoles take about 1 min longer ... you setup with the normal centerpole. put one side in, then the other, then remove the center...

We used the same tent your talking about last year for a three month trip useing the centre pole and with the extended version you have we didnt find the centre pole a problem at all.We thought about the side pole kit but are quite happy with the centre pole.
