I need to know if anyone has upgraded there cooling system for the 91 terrano (manual). My radiator as I can tell is two small for the climate we are in (HOT). Will getting a radiator from and Aussie pathfinder be larger and drop temps so that i don't boil coolant al the time.
Thanks

Quick trip to a car yard would tell you that.
Have you thought of getting your cooling system flushed?
Check fan belt,
water pump etc

BTW
The service manual shows that the TD27 engine for Australia (ie not the
grey inports) are fitted with a Sub radiator with it's own special fan. No idea where it would fit though, but it may be worth exploring.

Hi,
My son has one of these and his has an additional thermo fan installed on the grill side of his radiator. This was done by the previous owner we believe.
This works
well as without it the vehicle does run hot especially while in 4wd.
As far as I know, the fan is just wired to his ignition switch and only runs when the engine is running.
Hope this helps a bit.
Cheers

G'day
I suppose you've read all the info I posted previously.
The radiator in the earlier 2.7l petrol 4 pot was a 1 row job so that won't be any good to you... maybe the V6 had a bigger one.
Eventually I repacked the viscous hub with fresh silicon oil (Toyota sil. oil about $14 a tube) and that made the most difference of anything I tried. It still gets warm but nowhere near what it used to.
There are a couple of tricks to doing a good job here, let me know if you want some advice.
I'm not sure that there is room behind the grill for another fan, at least not with the air con. condensor sitting in there. But if someone has already done it, who am I to argue.
The sub-radiator refered to in the manual is for the E24 series (whatever they are - the E20 was a van) with the TD27 engine, but where you would fix the sub-radiator in the Terrano is a mystery to me though.
Anyway feel free to contact me.

I don't know if it makes any difference but there was a suggestion made on this
forum about posting email addresses. (see my response above)
Someone said that posting in the long form stops shysters trolling
forum sites automatically scanning for addy's written in the normal format.
Seemed to make sense to me anyway.
Just some advice but you may be a wizz at all this stuff (I'm just an unco at it)

The best option would be repacking the silicon hub and flushing you radiator. As Oskar has alreaady said the larger v6 cooler will fit in nicely as
well.

theshadows is spot on the money, I did just that to my 3.0td surf and it worked a treat, I don't care how good you "think" your fan is locking a couple of tubes of that silicony stuff will make the difference. I though mines was locking up good, but it wasn't. You probally don't need a bigger radiator, especially having a manual, but I spose it wouldn't hurt, just keep the cooling system in top notch condition and you should be right. Flush every year, instead of every other year. Also use good coolant, not that crap you buy from k-mart, genuine Toyota stuff I've heard is some of the best around and its what I have in
mine now. I've even heard other nissan owners say good things about toyota coolant.
