Oh, does anyone know what aerial (cheap and unbreakable) to put on it as i don't have a clue , plus i don't know what the "db" in 6.5db and 4.5db means.
Cheers Jonoc

Hi there, Its obviously an old 27mhz unit, Dicko or Jaycar both have aerials and bases, combinations for under $25 with leads. But you must get the SWR correct or you will burn out the final transistors in the CB. (standing wave ratio). This is done with a SWR meter and snipping the top of the antennea or adjusting
the tip of the antennae , dependind on the type of antennae. Ask the Dicko guys or the Jaycar fellas about this. see how you go,,, Michael

Ok, just get aerial, from the 2 big boys, under $20, 27mhz and get someone to "SWR" it. Hope it works for you!!

SWR should be optimum 1:1 but up to 2:1 is ok, you can listen but dont transmit without having it checked for correct SWR.

Gidday,If it is a 27mhz sell it and buy a UHF.Very few people use 27 mhz anymore.I think 95% of travellers use UHF.On 27 mhz the antenna has to be tuned to the radio and on UHF just wack the antenna on and away you go(pre tuned).
