The truck went on the dyno @ Diesel Tec in lilyale and was performed by andrew.

This was done this morning and produced the following results:

This is with the 3" exhaust already fitted
74kw rear wheel only

Boost increase to 15psi and fuel adjustments
97.6kw

good get a bit more but this was conserative. good get a hell of a lot more with changing intercooler and then turbo mods. $$$ involved

Cost$$$
$250 for dyno time and tune and boost and to mount boost controller in engine bay can be adjusted very easy.
$100 boost controller

total $350 +GST
= $385

Cheap neddies I say!

Is it safe to turn up the boost that much?
& does it affect your fuel economy much?

Sounds good to me!

Mark from ARB was runnin 20psi for over 100k klms..

dont kid yourself, it will wear it out faster, but any power mod will.

And without fuel you dont get power. :) Will see how the dude goes.

15psi is a lot for 97.6 kw trucky??

I had 12psi and 124kw at the rears of my GQ non intercooled.

Well, pretty much the same figures I got out of the GU mate, say around 10kw less and that's with 12psi as well.

Got the dyno report laying around somewhere at home, will bring it in and stuff up another upload of a link.

John has a report on his wall of a GQ running 14psi non intercooled with 180hp at the rears, went like the clappers apparently!

Admittedly, I did have a fuel problem at 4000rpm, but really didn't have much to go up that end anyway, sweet between 1500 and 3500rpm.

I'm sure my old mans Mav got about that 120kw or so at 12 psi when he fitted the turbo (no intercooler)

He has a Garrett Turbo on his.

The TD42's are quoted as having 78 or 86kw's or something. That's crap, they have less than that.

I had something like 54kw's or something. I had a schweitzer on mine.

My mate has a shorty GQ with T4 Garrett and intercooler, runs 10 psi and almost keeps up with my truck.

Your old mans truck going well flappan? Weren't you entering the fray as well and having it done?

The old mans truck runs like clockwork. Been around Aus a few times towing an Offroad Van (why he did the turbo).

I'll check with him again about kw (I'm sure they dyno'ed it).

I've got a 4.5 Petty Patrol , so nup , no turbo for me. . . .

Well . . I WOULD like one . . . but no.

Actually Blu125 may have seen the old bloke Mav around Town . . . he often vists the Camping place across the road from Blu's workplace.

Actually , just rang the old man to check.

His is rated at 129kw fly wheel (I think accepted theory is about 30% less at the rear wheels) , so its about 90 odd kw , but only running at 8 psi.

His was designed by Peter Luckson (sp) at Safari , and was one of the original Garrett systems , but fitted in Toowoomba . . . I think Safari went to Schweitzer turbo's after that.

He has done just over 200,000 k's with No probs at all.

Truckster,

My mates intercooled one can't keep up with my GU. The old one had the schweitzer that I traded some months back. That had the moded pump, 3 inch mandrel, and 12psi with 165hp at the rears, but not as much torque as the GU. My mate didn't own the GQ shorty with the garret and intercooler then.

From memory, Denco are very careful when it comes to boost etc. I for one know that my GQ didn't blow bucket loads of smoke because it was running badly, the fuel had been screwed up in equal amounts to the boost and the pump moded so that full open throttle would allow the pump to gush lots of yummy diesel to allow for full accelleration. Was getting about 7.25k/l in that truck...Did 80,000 without missing a beat.

Next time, if you are ever in Brizzy, I'll take you for a run, I feel I have a truck that may pull the sheets off your bed!

Flappan,

Must have been someone else who had the old man with the turbo done by John as well as himself. Never mind...

A 4.5 petrol with a turbo on it would be sight to see...

Cheers mate,

Chris.

Cokeaddict,

I can give you the mobs number who did mine for some piece of mind. You shouldn't need to wind up to 15psi for some great power. You've had the 3inch etc fitted hey?

Cheers

Chris.
