Hello peeps..
Well just about made our minds up i think as we are running out of time...We first thought of doing the CSR from
Wiluna to
well 23/24 then onto
Newman...Guess what looks like we may not be hehe
Instead it looks more like :
Wiluna to Everad
Junction Gary hwy to
Windy Corner
Talawana Trek to
Newman...
I need to know what the road is really like so if anyone has done this trip or been on the roads in question i could really do with your coments as to how much spinifex is around and road conditions overall be for we head off next week...
I have put several forums in latley trying to make up our mind which way to go..I still feel like doing the CSR but have been told from
Wiluna to
well 23/24 the sandunes are very very steep so if anyone has done that trip as
well i would like to know what you think....
Where all packed and roaring to go as you an imagine the excitment he he...
We just want to make the right descion and im more confused than ever....
The reason for so many questions is we are on our own...1 4wd ...I donot want to be wandering aroound out there like a lost sheep ...Its warming up out there...
So please any information would be very handy indeed...There's nothing worse than breaking down in the middle of nowhere...It could cost a lot of money to get back to civilisation...
Cheers all...looking forward to your coments as always...
Phil

Gaday Phil. The
Gary hwy up to
Windy corner is a remote area experience that at this time of the year you may be lucky to see anybody on, so flying solo has it's risks. The track is often very eroded & overgrown in
places & when I went it left me with with lots of deep scratches in the duco. (Nice dark 100 series you have)
The Canning is a totally different trip. The country changes all the time & there is so much more to see, history,
water holes & aboriginal art.
The difference between the two is the Gary is a remote transit route for most people that takes a few days. The Canning is a destination that takes a few weeks.
If you do not feel experienced enough to drive on the steep
sand dunes, you could possibly book a spot on Alick's next trip.
Cheers Craig....................

Hello Craig...Gee thanks mate for getting back to me so soon...With so many members here i thought alot more would have done the CSR...That or they have nothing to say....
Point taken Craig...I just got off the phone from Alick and he's convinced me to do the CSR...I'm still very worried about that Savory
Creek ...you laugh i guess but bugger me i dont feel like siting in the
creek waiting for someone to pull me out ...he he ...All jokes aside it should be fun ...I'm sure i'll be sweating crossing that
creek...Betterr take the digi camera along so you all get a laugh....Just hope my beast will do the job...
Thanks again Craig...Perhaps we can meet up one day...I would like that..
Cheers
Phil

Don't sweat about the Savory
creek. If it is flowing just speak to other travellers asking where they crossed. (often a 44 gallon drum is used as a marker) Walk the crossing to pick a route, let a bit of air out of the tyres & you should have no trouble. I've seen a fully loaded Oka cross with a blown front diff so it's difficulty is probably over rated due to it's remoteness. If it is exceptionally deep just
camp a day & wait for the next traveller.
Seeing you drive the best outback 4x4 ever made you'll have no trouble ;-)) Have fun, cheers Craig. HZJ105....................
