There has been many discussions regarding the current price of fuel & the different so called schemes on the market where people power can put pressure the major oil companies to drop their prices. I have been howled down on suggestions posted on this forum in the past.
Well some people are now fighting back. If anyone watched channel seven's Today Tonight program this evening you would have seen that the Independent Retailers in conjunction with local businesses have setup up a discount fuel card where like Coles & Woolies (who are with Shell & Caltex) you do your shopping at independent shops & gain fuel discount at Independent Fuel Outlets far exceeding what Coles & Woolies offer..
At present it is only setup in South Australia but they say it will be Austrlia wide within 6 months.

hey topcat,,,,,,, why not forget about retail shops altogether!! Think about this, what if a group (for instance, the people who visit this site!) were to support one or two set fuel suppliers and command a bulk fuel discount! A small company can get a fuel discount, so why not a large group such as this. ExploreOz would be a perfect forum to organise-register interest and approach a fuel supplier to do this, waddaya recon...................col

Hi Colin, from the amount of hits that David gets on this site, if everyone did come to the party I'm sure someone would stand up & start taking notice. The more advertising this gets the more chance its got of having a chance of succeeding. It also gives the small business bodies who participate a chance to survive after what little Jonnie Howard & his GST did to throw them out of business!!!
