hi everyone

Im still looking at so many different cars and options. Ive seen little sierras in the dunes just going everywhere. However I need 5 seats. I want to know if the vitara 5 door with a 1.6 efi engine would perform the same. Is it still a light car compared to most others? I want an everyday driver with great fuel economy, not used for touring or anything, but just for weekend driving in dunes and on the beach mostly. Car will never be heavily laden, just used for surfing etc. The vitara has coils at the back and independant front suspension. Is it straight forward to lift this type of suspension?

Any info or suggestions appreciated

Obviously not as light as a Sierra but the extra power is good and definately lighter than other 5 door's. A 2" suspension lift is straight forward. 235/75R15's will fit without any mods. If you are going to drive it hard in the dunes I would suggest fitting a strut brace like the later 2.0's have.

A guy up at Woodford that I know runs the 1.6 efi motor in a work Vitara that's been converted to a ute, it friggin flies! Goes like the clappers and only sips the fuel.

Very good for modding and plenty of parts around. And goes well on the beach as you'd expect.

Had a Feroza ii wide track some years ago and it was amazing on & off road for what it was. Flet like a solid truck off road but was light and economical around 8-10ltr per 100 around town. Slow on the highway but in 4x4 at 60-80kph it was great.

No real problems in the 100k I owned it.

cheers skinny
