If on your own, probably not (even in a group its not). Cosider hiring a satphone or HF radio. Don't forget your responsibility to your family members if the unforseen happens. Its starting to get very warm up there so also take plenty of water. Check the menu's on this site for more info.

Your UHF will be fine on the Plenty Highway and Chambers Pillar.
Lots of travellers in both of these areas. If camping at Chambers Pillar, get in early, the camping area can fill up pretty quickly.

Mark

I agree with Mark - don't need HF or satphone on those two tracks.

I reacon UHF is fine but know how to use it and it's limitations, and know the repeater stations in the area, it's a big help and extra precaution. There's a list of them here on this site.
Don't go there in the heat of summer though, it'll cook your brain + the vehicle.
The Plentys an Ok rough road, the track into Chambers has lots steep short sandhills - watch oncoming traffic on the ridges.
Make sure the waters topped up, you'll be ok if you take it easy.
