Bit wet this weekend...

Got caught in torrential downpours and flash floods around Cobar and some very sticky mud on the dirt tracks both sides of the Kidman Way - pity the poor souls camping at the Outback Music Festival in Nymagee! Gave up on Yathong National Park after a couple of k's because I didn't want to destroy the very soft tracks. We just had a quick look there and went on to the first "Beatin round the Bush" festival in Euabalong near Lake Cargelligo, and very nice it was with country music and a large aboriginal participation. Was very impressed with the drop produced by Murrin Bridge Wines, the only aboriginal-owned vineyard in Australia (bought a case of their shiraz), and the beautiful Melaleuca Cafe in Euabalong, also an aboriginal business. Will post details of next years' festival on this forum to encourage others to turn up.

We will be going that way next week headed for B/Hill and beyond. Will stop at Murrin Bridge and check out your tastes. I will also support them if they have the shiraz in a cask, I don't take bottles on trips anymore, used to, but found that wines I had cellared for 4-5 years were being destroyed on the outback tracks. Just use casks, cans & a neat whiskey if I feel like a refresher by the camp fire, easier to dispose of as well. Mind, I still use good glass ware, nothing daggy about our camp.

Thanks for mentioning the stop-offs. I reacon the country will be looking fantastic by the time we get there, about time for the poor bloody families trying to etch out a living.

I agree with you on casks, unfortunately I don't think they do them yet. I bought a case of bottles, and bought them on the way back.
