Some P#$%k has drawn on the bonnet of the hilux with Red Nikko (marker) pen while it was down at the shopping center.....
Does anyone know how to remove it without damaging paintwork ? I was thinking a cut and polish but not sure how deep the pen may have penetrated the paintwork.

Any assistance appreciated.

WD40 or tar & bug remover, doesn't hurt the paint.

Try going over it with a whiteboard marker. Works on whiteboards for removing permanent marking pens.

Cheers

Thanks magnus, I tried the whiteboard marker as I've seen this used on whiteboards at work, this worked fairly well except there was still a faint mark on the paint work as well as a slight red smudge after wiping off with the tissue, I then used meguires scratch remover which cleaned off the rest of the residue without cutting back the paint....Looks good as new. I re-posted at the end of the thread just for everyone's info.

Try a rubber, or maybe some euclyptus oil.

Magnus is on the money. Whiteboard marker will do the trick.

Make sure the bonnet is cool (in the shade) and apply liberally over a small area at a time, wiping off with a tissue while it's still wet .... you'll be amazed.

Works well on any shiny surface.

Cheers

ledastray, when i say "Budget", i mean "Budget", the fridge is anchored to some ply, and it slides in and out of the housing with only angle holding it in place, the motor is in the back so most of the weight is still in the housing, works great, will have to do till i can rob a bank and buy a proper setup.

Hi all, thanks for all the responses.........most helpful. I tried the tip that magnus gave with the whiteboard marker as I've seen this used on whiteboards at work, this worked fairly well except there was still a faint mark on the paint work as well as a slight red smudge after wiping off with the tissue, I then used meguires scratch remover which cleaned off the rest of the residue without cutting back the paint....Looks good as new.
Hope this helps someone in the future....
