Truckster (Vic)
is there any difference from Low to High 4wd in yours.
Mine there is 0 difference.. 30kph in low and high is same RPM.
Also the low range light flashes on the dash when selected, me thinks this is telling me something is fubar...
ideas?

Truckster,
I think from memory that you have the select knob on the dash, is this correct. if so, than all the flashing light means is that it has not locked in to lo.
also, does it do this when switched to the lo position or in the auto position or both? I think that when this happens that sometimes we had to go in reverse a few meters and than drive forward and it would lock into lo. all this is from a bad memory retention as i used to cart these vehs around the country on car carriers and sometimes they were a s..t to get up on to the top deck.
Regards
Bob

yea flick the switch on dash, into Auto appears fine, into High 4,
well havent tested it that
well, but I know 4low is doing nothing, so maybe 4high is the same.
Having to reverse, somethin sounds dodgey there, thats the last thing you wanna have to do on a
hill or something like that!
Thanks anyway.

From memory, as I had one (Pfinder) a couple of years back. You have to stop to engage 4L - can't go into 4L on the fly sames the big Niss with the lever. The light stays on (no blink) when engaged. Y'can only switch between 2WD > 4Wauto> 4WDH on the fly.
If you engaged 4WL on the fly at 30kph y'd nearly put y'self through the windscreen. Make sense ?

Yea always stop to throw into low anyway, but there was no difference in speed when I took off again!
Gotta get a battery for it today, and will try again.
As Eric says its probably never been in 4wd before! which can be a good and bad thing when buyin a 4b second hand.
Thanks people.

Our F250s have a dash switch the same (rotating thing). To engage low range you have to be stopped and in neutral (auto trans). I think foot on brake too. Sometimes it won't engage until you move forward a little too.

Hey Truckster,
My mate has one and he was telling me that it is not fully engaged while the light is flashing. The flashing light is to tell you that it is in the process of locking in and once it does the light should stay fixed.
From what he was telling me you should definitely notice the different gear range and everything else you are doing seems spot on so maybe the beast may have a bit of a problem.
Cheers
