Hi,
Have a Question if anyone can help. The Toyota Prado has a traction control system that controls torque etc to each wheel and applys brakes etc to assist it. They say this is equal to a diff-lock. If so why does it have a diff lock lever? And how does it work.
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Corey

The diff lock leaver only locks in your transfer case , without this , you only trabsfer something like 35% of power to the front
wheels. Your traction control is ok for dirt roads , but nothing like diff locks .
hope this helps

Corey, I'm not totally up with the Prado's 4x4 system but I think you will find the diff lock lever is the centre diff lock which is in practical terms the equivellant of a 2 or 4 wheel drive selection lever transferring equal power to both front & rear. It's not an axle diff lock which is what "they" are comparing it to. IMHO a traction control system can't be as good as double axle diff locks but they do work pretty
well in most situations. Cheers Craig..............
