I just bought a suzuki sierra 95 model, really nice car but its unlicensed, i need to take it over the pits but theres a leak in my exhaust flang which they rekn could be 200 bucks to fix. I want to put extractors and a new exhaust on it, but should I do it before the pits? would i pass with extractors on it? im in W.A.

Ryna,
I had a similar issue a few years ago with a small truck, wanted it on the road NOW. I took it to an exhaust guy and explained the situation, he pushed some black, malleable stuff into the leak, kept it quiet for about two weeks, long enough to pass roadworthy, then it was all mine. Hope this helps

You would possibly need a permit for extractors in WA, it's a load of wank hey...

You can throw a set of extractors on and it will pass with flying colours!!

Exhaust is very rarely seen as a modification especially when everything else is stock, this isnt a mod really but a replacement!

If it wont pass an inspection, it means that you would have to get the mod recognised and certified and can you imagine doing that for every car out there that has a sports exhaust and extractors fitted?? That would be about 100 or so cars a day at least?

Anyway, there are some short term fixes but, IMHO do it once and do it right the first time!!

BTW, my 90 Sierra had EFI Vitara Extractors and a 2in sports sytem, but I had fitted a 1600 16 valve Suzuki Swift motor with Vitara camshaft! Went like a rocket, they are awesome cars!

Enjoy, Matt.
