hi all. haas anyone been to joadja near mittagong its spouse to be a old mining town ive been told its open to inspect the
ruins and camping. but also told its been cloosed to the public and privitely own. does anyone know the right story and if its worth the trip.

Yes mate it is privately owned. You can't wander through, you must take their tour 'cos they're concerned about litigation if you trip over a broken brick or something. They have a little
shop there and quite a bit of information about the refinery etc. It is an old shale oil mining town. There are others around but on the western side of the Blue Mountains at
Newnes and
Glen Davis. They all offer a pretty fascinating insight into some of our history. You might get some information by doing a search for Joadja on Google.

hi jim, thanks for the info i heard about it years ago but i wasnt sure on its status these days. we've been to
newnes thats a good day trip. i didnt know
glen davis was the same sort of place. ive seen the signs but never taken the notice thats on gunna list we've only started the campin seen and only just starting to venture out. thanks a heap.
