Gday
I need to buy new rubber for my Prado and am looking at BFG A/T and Mickey Thomsons Dick Cepek
Ive previously owned bfgs on another vehicle and was VERY impressed, but have found that no one In
Melbourne have Bfgs due to a recall.
Id prefer bfgs but the 6 week wait is too long and am wondering if anyone uses Dick Cepek tyres.
I have found information on net but dont see any vehicles driving around with these
Ive been quoted $247 for the gfgs
and $295 for the Dick Cepek both fitted and balanced

What sort of terrain are you trying?
What size? $295 is very rich..
you can get new 33x12.5x15 MTRs for $265
Had a look at the Mickey T ATs at the
camping show on a 100 series, they actually look really good. Mickey T have a good name, but as for wear rate, who knows.. lot of $ to find out at $300ea.

Truckster, Bob Jane T Mart quoted $324 for 33 x 12.5 x 15's MTR today in WA. I haven't done any shopping around but I felt that $324 was a tad high.

I forgot to mention 265x75x16 tyres, I dont wish to change rim size
Most off roading is done in the
Vic High country, I would love to step up to a MT tyre but figure that we roughly do 40% off road and the wear rate would be too high for our needs, maybe someday down the track as a second set ,but at the moment an AT type pattern will do fine.
Ive seen the article in 4x4 Australia but would rather opinions of the real people, not 100% sure on articles read in some glossy magazines
If $295 seems too high what should I be paying? this is the best quote so far, price topped at $325 per tyre fitted and balanced

"roughly do 40% off road..."
You should look at Goodyr MTR's... Very good all rounder.

Steve,
A friend of
mine had them on his LADA and was very impressed. I asked him why the Cepeks? he replied "Nothing beats Russian Made"
Is Dick Cepek Russian? I dont think he is.
Cheers.

I have the Dick Cepeks - I bought them because they have 2mm more tread than Cooper ST's - They have a good A/T pattern and haven't let me down yet. We are just back from a trip where gave them a good test in sand, mud, gravel & black top. 7,000k's and 2-3mm of tread gone. Now done 15,000k's - Happy to reccomend them but haven't done enough k's yet to be a true believer. My 285/75/16's cost 270 ea.
