While I was at Innnamincka last week I noticed a small amount of engine oil on the ground. Checking it out it had come from the oil return pipe from the turbo to the sump. The split in the hose was not far from the end so I cut the split end off and replaced the shorter hose. This fix got me home with only a small leak from the hose.
I went to the local auot
shop to get some new hose and when I asked if it could take low pressure hot engine oil I was told that I would have to go to a Hydraulic Hose distributor. The question that I was asked when trying to decide what hose to get was how hot will the oil get? Does any one know how hot the oil would get from the turbo. The vehicle is a 97 Troopy with a Turbo Dynamic turbo fitted.

Hi Wayne
Personally don't know the temp of the oil, sorry can't answer that one.
Aside from this small issue, How did she handle? And did you buy it?

John,
Paid in full before I went away. I picked it up on Wednesday night and had Friday to set it up. It was mostly done just had to put a few of my things in. The
aftermarket seats in are great, drove 1000klm with one stop and got out of the vehicle as if I had just gone down the street. Fuel ecomony was great, a little down on power than the 80 Series but I am working on that. Lovells springs and Koni shocks handled the corrugations, and the BFG muddies kept it on the move. Had to use the diff locks a few times, the hydraulic winch once and one snatch recovery. The cargo area took all the gear with room to spare but a storage system that I will build will store the gear a little better. The turning circle is not real good but I can deal with that.
The amount that I paid for it and the gear that is on it I am very happy with it and it will suit the work that I do.
PS I am off to the
Vic High Country in mid November so I will see how it handles the climbs and river crossings.

I just used ordinary hydraulic hose from pirtek or enzed and had no problem at all. It was a hell of a lot cheaper than the you beaut hose the turbo guys were trying to flog me. Just buy two and pocket the change, it's always good to have spares.

Paul,
$16 for 1/2 mt of hose with 2 hose clampsis a lot cheaper than a motor rebuild. The hose I got is rated to 95c so I am hopping that is enough.

I used a small piece of Aeoquip AQP #12 hose on my Luxon turbo on my 1hz 80 series, got it from a hydraulics
shop, the hose is good for 150deg C, your oil will be around 100-120 deg c, normal hyd hose is only good for 96 deg c.
