I know it's a little late in the season but anyone travelling to the Cape next year may like to know about a free caravan storage facility. The Mt. Carbine Caravan
Park (the owner is Robert). On our last trip he provided us with 5 weeks storage at absolutely no charge. As a matter of courtesy we stayed in the
park the day prior to leaving and the day we returned from the Cape. Anyone who intends to take their conventional caravan as far as the sealed road will allow and then tent it the rest of the way (as we did ), may be pleasantly suprised. Robert even conducts free afternoon guided tours, including detailed information on the history and geology of Mt. Carbine

I have a friend who is a permanent resident of the Mt Carbine Caravan
Park.
He confirmed the free storage arrangement - with conditions. The offer is there for anyone - provided that they stay at least one night, either at the beginning or end of the storage period.
He did say that among our 4x4 travelling community there are a number of SCUMBAGS who avail themselves of the free storage offer - then turn up at 2 or 3 AM , hook up their van , and drive away!
As usual - the minority will stuff it up for all in the end!
