Has anyone camped here? If so, what is it like, how busy does it get at Christmas, and finally as Al may have to go to Melbourne to work over some of the Christmas/NY period what's the drive like? - as he may commute daily if that's the case...

any info would be greatly appreciated...

cheers

Lyn

I agree with baz.. anywhere thats not 3 hours of 4wding to get to will be packed to the rafters... so you may as well go camping in center of the city.
hate crowds, hate public holidays.

If that's the case then it may be a nice quiet place to visit over Christmas.

Ray, I was thinking the same thing, only problem is the distance which I would estimate to be 2 hours driving time for Al, which means a 4 hour trip - which may be daily depending on what happens during the maintenance shutdown... :(

I think 2hrs is a bit much for someone not used to it, makes for a real long day. Get the map out and look for somewhere that's 1hr closer.

Lismore? you mean Lismore down near here? Theres Buggar all at Lismore, and its in the middle of the Western Plain, theres gotta be some nicer places to go. Lake Bolac (near Lismore) is also bleak, windy and theres also gotta be places nicer than that. Lismore would be 2 and a arf hours from that lovely place called Melb I reckon. but but but the only redeeming feature is....its near ME!

Geez Bonz, you don't paint a pretty picture of ya home turf however I've always enjoyed it down your way with lots of lakes and volcanic features to check out, some of those volcanic rocks in the paddocks are awesome :) Not many people visit and that appeals.

Ray, Mate, South of here is Gods own country, rolling green hills, glorious tracks thru the Otways and lush wonderful verdant luxury to sleep on. North is rocks and stones and volcanoes and lakes and craters and well I just reckon tell it like you see it like Mrs Al did above hahahahahaahah

Bonz, Those lush rolling green hills you describe are the only place in Oz that reminds me of where I came from. The transformation over such a short distance is truly amazing, from weed infested wasteland to the green green grass of home but really this is Gods planet and I find beauty in it all.
