Rick, one of the group on the last Simpson crossing has a lot to do with GPS tracking of trucks and telemetry. He had the usual laptop and GPS working together but a new toy he was trying out was the monitoring of the tyre pressure while the vehicle was moving. He had a read out of tyre pressure and tyre temperature.
We were stopped for morning tea when he heard air escaping from one of the rear tyres, so a quick change before the tyre went too flat. Just as I was putting the tyre on the back door of the Nissan I heard a beep, beep, beep. That was the warning from the tyre monitor saying that the tyre pressure had dropped below a set pressure. Better late than never.

I use Smartire. $150 on eBay. Excellent piece of kit. Peace of mind as
well as saving tyres.

I fitted a set to my Prado before the
Gibb River road and
places East of there and they worked great. On bush bashing it beeped for the RR tyre, I got out had the jack under and the wheel off before it got down to 10 psi. The tyre was staked on the sidewall and RS but it prevented complete destruction by driving it flat.
