Tim & Jan
Believe that it can be done inside the set.
Achieved it once but can't recall exactly how
We contacted Barrett and they explained how to do it over the phone( we were in
longreach at the time)
Suggest that you talk to a rep or Barrett

Our Barrett 550R is front panel programable. The front panel programming option has to be enabled from within the software program. Most dealers will NOT do this because it will enable you to program frequencies that you are not permitted to use, anywhere from 0.5 to 30.0 Mz. However for Amateur Radio operation - it is the only way that access to the Amateur bands is available. In amateur use it is somewhat clumsy to use because you have to program the TX freq, RX freq and mode into one of the vacant 600 channels. Then if you decide to move up or down a few Kc's - it has to be all done again!

Thanks for that I also have a barrett 250 it can be programed with any channel from 0.0khz to 30.0khz but when they made the 550 they made them harder to program.I think they have a technical manual with them this would have all the detail in it. There was one on ebay for $60 a couple of weeks back maybe I should of bought it?

Hi Tim & Jan
Do you have a copy of the manual? I have one at home so if you wish I can scan it and send to you. Just let me know and provide an email address and I'll send it tonight. Cheers
