After being a visitor to this site for some time and obtaining quite a bit of info I finally decided to become a member. In a couple of years time my wife and I have decided that we will take our three kids out of school for 9 months and travell around Australia. My first question is has anyone on this
forum done anything similar with kids and do you have any tips or advise we could use. Secondly , what sort of budget did you work to . We have a camper trailer and we will be using powered sites in van parks and canping remotely whenever possible. Thanks in advance.

We just decided that it would be a once in a life time opportunity and if we didnt do it while the kids still think mum and dad are cool then I think we would wait until they can fend for themselves.

Matt
I don't believe yo are a lucky man. You will have to work hard and make it happen. Good luck to you I hope it is eveything you expect and more.
I do believe you have lucky kids. Parents who love them and want them to experience life as an adventure.
Should be more of it.

Matt
Did just that last year for 8mths. The girls were 9, 4 and 2 when we left - all having Bdays whilst away. travelled in a Prado with a Camper Trailer and did 25000Km. Went Nth from Syd at the start of May and just took it easy.
Only the oldest had any school issues and I was surprised how happy they were that she was getting the chance. She had to keep a daily jounal and also took some text books with various maths and similar exercises. All the kids grew out of there skin (mentally) whilst we were away and we are now trying to plan another trip, unfortunatly not as long.
What age are kids and what info would you like (i could talk about this trip all day).

Matthew,
You lucky fella, but im luckier cause im leaving in mid december to do it for
T W O read it T W O years at least. I have three children and a wife who i must take along too. have you considered taking longer and home schooling the children on the way. we already home school so the trip isnt a problem school wise. there are various ways to go about home schooling but we do ours through the School of Tomorrow. its easy as the kids virtually teach themselves.
hope this helps
Bob
