what sort a 4wd is it. I know with the 100 series and prado it is a commen problem the only remedy is to replace the sender unit.

ok , go to the sender unit and earth the wire that runs to it . if the guage goes to full . it's the sender unit , if the guage dosnt move , it's the sender

The sender unit if faulty is easy to replace.
I used one from a Gemini for my aux
tank which cost $50 for
tank AND sender from the wreckers.
The sender uses the same resistance as the original one and works perfectly on the Patrol gauge. (They're both made in Japan by the same manufacturer)
