I'm going to change the ute back on my twin cab rodeo. Besides the mounting bolts there is a floating arm that bolts under the rear
seat its purpose i'm not sure of. As my long range fuel
tank needs to come out is it necessary to have this or can i cut it off. I can unbolt it without the
tank coming out but not reattaching it.
thanks Peter

Hi Peter,
I'm not sure of its purpose either. However I don't get what you are trying to say "I can unbolt it without the
tank coming out but not reattaching it".
Are you changing to a steel/alloy tray or another styleside tray (if your current one is damaged)?
I don't know if it is the
tank that is in the way that you are talking about but on my Rodeo access to this loop thing is not a problem.

Can you use an open end spanner to get the bolts in/out? Although I see little purpose in this bracket it must have some purpose. Although it doesn't take any weight and as you might be able to see that if it was unbolted from the cab then it would hang loosely from a bracket on the tray. Perhaps it is to keep things together in an accident? I wonder if the steel/alloy trays have a similar bracket?
I also have another styleside tray to fit onto
mine. An unused 1997 white tray I got on Ebay for $80. I mainly got it for the tail lights but will fit it so I don't catch my belt loops on the old tonneau cover black plastic things. I have a canopy now so these serve no purpose.
I just rang Holden spare parts at Mt Gravatt (had to anyway) and they had no idea and couldn't find the bracket part on the computer.
I rang them as I am going to replace the upper control arm bushes on my Rodeo when I flip my ball joints in a couple of weeks. There are 4 bushes and they are $37.15ea!!!! Might check out some aftermarket
places!!
Let us know what the bracket is for if you ever find out.
Good luck.
