I inquired about this and was sent this email by Kathryn Sarris of Shoalhaven council

Condition of trails and accessing trails correct as at 1st August, 2004

The following trails & roads (including bridges) are on Crown Land & are the responsibility of Shoalhaven City Council: Yarramunmun, Mintbush, Wombat Flat, Monkey Gum.

Grid References (GR) are from 1:25,000 topographic maps. Purchase topographic maps from larger newsagents, tourist information centres or camping stores for around $10 each.

Easy 4WD trail ¡V Yalwal Road to Braidwood Road with Hylands Lookout

„X Start at Yalwal Road
„X Turn at Deans Gap Road (Yalwal map GR 671304) - ends at Braidwood Road
„X Lookout at Hylands Lookout (Sassafras map GR 655231)

4WD loop track ¡V starting at Yalwal Road heading south to Braidwood Road (with the option to continue south to Milton)

„X Start at Yalwal Road
„X Turn at Deans Gap Road (Yalwal map GR 671304) take Mintbush Trail (Yalwal map GR 660264) which becomes Wombat Flat Road on Sassafras map.
„X All bridges have been burnt out along Wombat Flat Road. Vehicles are going around, crossing are becoming rough.
„X Trail turns into Monkey Gum Fire Trail (Sassafras map GR 636213) which ends up at Braidwood Road (GR 614145). (Monkey Gum reasonable trail).
„X Visit Tianjara Falls 6 klms further west along Braidwood Road.

Option to continue south to Milton or east to Wandandian & Princes Highway

„X Near Tianjara Falls take Twelve Mile Road through to the Princes Highway through George Boyd Lookout (Tianjara map GR604043).

„X Alternatively from Twelve Mile Road turn onto Tianjara Fire Trail (Tianjara map GR555061 un-named Four Wheel Drive trail (you must register your intention to use Tianjara Fire Trail with National Parks by telephoning 44549505) follow through to Porters Creek Dam and Pointer Lookout through to Milton.

„X From Braidwood Road take Wandean Road (Sassafras map GR 603134) through to Princes Highway at Wandandian, takes you to Jerrawangala Lookout (Sassafras map GR 635123).

„X Also off Braidwood Road, Cassia Road (rougher 4WD track), from Cassia Road you can link back to Wandean Road via Slab Hill Road.

Second stage of 4WD loop trail from Braidwood Road north to Yalwal Road

„X From Braidwood Road take Yarramunmun Fire Trail (quite steep & very rough). Note: Shoalhaven City Council intend closing Yarramunmun Fire Trail to the public, access will only be available to 4WD clubs. Advise checking with Shoalhaven City Council by telephoning (02) 44293111.

Yalwal Road & Old Burrier Fire Trail

„X Off Yalwal Road you can turn onto Old Burrier Fire Trail, which takes you to Grassy Gully Road, which takes you onto Coolendel or back to Nowra.

Morton National Park - Yalwal area

Overnight walks:-

„X Spring and autumn great at MacKenzie"'s Station walk north along Creek to Yalwal Creek Road.

„X Drovers Ridge ¡V no water, long hard slog!

„X Good safe walking following creeks, always clean water & great camping spots. Walk in and out same route. Yalwal Creek (will get wet feet some crossing required), Ettrema Creek or Bundundah Creek.

„X Ettrema Creek to Prydes Amphitheatre 2 day hike. Park car at Coolendel for security.

„X North of Yarramunmun and Boolijah is an un-named track running north along Yarramunmun Creek, goes to a dead end which becomes private property. Near Fletchers Flat on the river is a nice place to bush camp (but there could be lots of motor bikes).

„X Two Rivers Walk ¡V overgrown & not maintained, dry country walking. Would not recommend.

Where can we camp?

„X Coolendel or Grady"'s Retreat (both privately owned) on the Shoalhaven River.

„X Room for one tent only at Flying Fox on Bundundah Reserve ¡V take Grassy Gully Road and turn approx. 1klm before Coolendel on the Shoalhaven River ¡V camp on the muddy bank with rocks).

„X Bundundah before Grassy Gully between Durkin Spur there is an un-named trail to the south west.

„X Too dusty at Grassy Gully for camping.

Gates:-

„X Gate at Thompson"'s Corner off Grassy Gully Road. Road is a dead-end to private property, there"'s a lookout on the private property.

„X Gate at Ettrema Tops.

Campfires:

„X Campfires are permitted in wilderness areas except on Total Fire Ban days.

Horseriding:

„X Riding horses in Bundundah Reserve is permitted.

Walks

Touga

„X 2 day walk - park car at "(The Jumps") walk down Bull Frog Creek into Ettrema Gorge come out at Myall Creek and onto Quiera Clearing.

„X Ettrema Creek & Tallyangella Creek are both hard walks.

„X Walk down Tim"'s Gully, park at Tolwong.

„X Touga property park at gate to property and follow the fenceline to the Shoalhaven River. Courtesy to talk to property owners.

„X Caoura topo map. Badgery"'s Lookout (GR345481) ¡V walk south down Badgery"'s Spur, cross Shoalhaven River at Badgery Crossing and walk up Sparks Buttress finishing at Tolwong.

„X Tim"'s Gully Walk ¡V park at either Tallyangela or Tolwong. Walk through Portion 50 (on topo map) and walk down Tim"'s Gully to the Shoalhaven River. Peach Tree Canal is an interesting place ¡V an old gold mining area ¡V the Peach Tree Canal was cut to divert water. Beware of deep mine shafts in this area. An easy walk.

„X Caoura topo map. Leave vehicle at the National Parks Bungonia State Recreation Area carpark. Camp at Chimneys (GR294412) on the Shoalhaven River heading east until Tryers Ridge. Can go 3 directions:-
North along Tryers Ridge and end up back at the Shoalhaven River.
or
South to Backbender Buttress and end up on Matodoro Ridge. Would need a second car left at the private property or Bullion Hill (do not know the condition of the track to Bullion Hill)
or
Continue east to Tolwong (would require a second vehicle).
