stats on new patrol indicate it is 12cm longer than old yet has same wheel base. is this taken up by big bumpers or is there extra cargo length?

Has anyone noticed the rear bumper changes yet?
There is no step in the rear bar anymore. just a piece of sandpaper glued onto it!!!!
Unless your 12 foot tall you will have issues gettin into it.
What a brilliant move.
Oh and no more space inside.

Hey Bjorn,
The extra 12cm is probably taken up by those taillights, I can't get past those and hadn't even noticed the rear step was gone. No wonder they made those lights so ugly, it was so you didn't notice all the other changes.
Thanks goodness I got the series III...
Chris.

I agree, those tail lights are UGLY! and they STILL only have a reversing light on the left hand side !. Nice inside, but I like the exterior look of my series III better.

In South Aussie they give you $$ for plastic bottles.. Imagine how many billions you would get for that front bumper!!
And the whole thing really
Talking with AJ last night the Sidesteps are mounted to the body, you rip them off you take the body with it!!! Up there for thinking..

I've been saying for quite a while that the "powers that be" at Nissan have a LOT to learn about marketing... This um, "new" model simply reinforces my opinion..
They've taken what was (IMO) quite a good-looking vehicle and, with the afore-mentioned tail-lights and those ridiculous flares, made it so U_G_L_Y !!! (what about that stupid-lookin' tack-on panel on the back door???)...
Looks like my series1 is good for a while yet...

I Agree!!
I think that the runout models just increased in value by $10,000!!! They would have to be the pick of the crop right now.

And where were the side steps for the MQ/MK, GQ and GU mounted perchance? Last time I took the factory side steps off each model, they were mounted to the body, just like every other 4WD.

Hi Guy's
While wer'e all picking the new patrols to pieces, the book say's the only pannel that they reused is the roof, I suspect that there's not much difference in all the doors and the only thing that I can see in the front guards is the light cut-outs. I suspect the extra length is probably in the front of the bonnet and perhaps the bumpers. In my opinion the flares look a bit Prado and the tail lights a bit pajero.
But I do like the interior.

Well when the VN came out I thought it looked terrible (
well it still does LOL) but then the VP, VR, VS etc etc and now you look at a VL and think it's old fashioned.
When the GU came out I though it was an ugly monstrosity, but now the GQ looks dated. I guess in a couple of years with a few mods to the front and rear it'll grow on us and then the GU will start to look old...
