When you blokes have been out the back of beyond
well an truly off beaten tracks for a couple or more weeks with no other Humans apart from those with you, do ya find it hard not to want all the road because you have been able to have it all, remembering what you have to do at those three strange lights on top of poles, ya got’a brake harder cause some one has passed and jumped in front ya and is about to turn or stop, remembering what ya PIN number is cause ya haven't had to use it for sometime?
I know I did... but how quickly we adjust to civilisation.

Hi Rod,
I know what you mean! Life back in civilisation is so COMPLICATED! However, you're right and we adjust very quickly, but not without the occasional yearning for a bit of simplicity and quiet again. I miss the moon and the stars too.
Cheers
Anni

If you head away with a couple of other car loads, you tend to miss the companionship, the afternoon happy hours, and the way you forget about all the problems at work and just enjoy the moment!
Ahhhhhhhh, the serenity. The cape trips so far away...

Yes, the moon and stars. Now you have probably heard about
Wave Rock,
well there are dozens of rocks with a lot of the being bigger and more fascinating than
Wave Rock. On this just completed trip we camped at a few rocks. The blokes I was with had a very interesting evening pass time, it was getting up on top of the rocks which put one
well and truly away from the campfire and lights, laying on ya back gazing up at the magnificent star filled sky and counting the satellites. On one night we counted nine of em. Usually by about 8.30-9.00pm the show was all over.

A friend of
mine has a computer programme that tells you what satellites you can see at what time and exactly where in the sky to look from any given location.
We print out a page and take it with us as it makes it all the more interesting when you can actually tell people what that satellite is for.
As you say it is a lot of fun.

If you look at the stars out in the bush for long enough, you see the stars behind the stars and it becomes 3 dimensional. Lots of opportunity to wish on falling stars too!

He just uses this website now.
Heavens above
It looks pretty cool and easy to use.
If you are watching the radio satellites and you have a scanner you can tune into its frequency as it passes over.
