Hi guys.
Been away for a while . I need some comments on tyres good or bad , am currently running Hankook Z36 but they are not going to give me 40,000 ks. by the look on rodao, have been on dirt & bush a fair amount of time . Have got 20,000 on now but are more than 50% worn . Have been told Trailmark are a good tyre , good for 50-70,000 ks .
Cheers Dingdong

You won't get good mileage from Cooper ST's either!

First I've noticed a comment on low life (kms) for the Cooper STs so interested to know more.

G'day blokes,
My Cooper STs have done 26,000klm, including 8,500klm on a recent
Cape York trip. I bought thm in March this year. I had been rotating the 5 tyres every 5000klm, but did not change them whilst on the "big trip". Now that we are back, the 2 rear ones look like they're stuffed.........however, it may not be as bad as it seems. I showed them to my local bloke who sold them to me and also dropped in at the
Adelaide camping show last weekend. At the show I met the state guru of Coopers and I took him out to the
carpark to show him. Between the 2 of them they have convinced me to stick with it and see if the tyres settle down and provide good wear in the long run. The tyre depth gauge shows that even the rear ones still have 8 to 9mm of tread left on them. The rear tyres were run at low 20psi for several hundred klicks over the Cape's tracks and there are some quite large chunks missing. However, I am prepared to wait and see what happens over the next 12 months or so. I will be happy if I get 50,000 out of them given the weight I carry and the type of driving I do.

Good Luck,

I have also been looking for some info on tyres. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a landcruiser troopie and at the moment am running 31/10.5/15 tyres and want to get bigger mud tyres. what is the biggest I can go to before I start having problems with the rolling radious and getting them to fit in the wheel arch

15mm over standard is all you can go legally...
31x10.5 is the biggest you can go legally.
But again try searching the archives. ITs asked about 2390148203984 times a day.

Don't touch Uniroyal AT's, that seem to wear OK, but in a really funny way. Not an even wear as you would expect.
Any yes, I pedantic about rotation and pressures. I will be going to Coopers ST's soon.

I run BFG 245/70R16 on my Jackaroo - got 80k from the first set - with better management, might have got 85k - some here report a lot more than 100k but I'm quizzical on that (maybe they run them bald !) - never had a flat - love 'em - only about 15% dirt / off road for me - and they cost $262 now in SA.

I have had brilliant mileage out of my cooper HT tyres - 98,000 ks and the Cooper ATs look like doing a similar job. I run on bituman @ 40psi.

Have a look at the TOYO M55 or TOYO OPAT tyres. I am currently running the M55 s with no complaints. the opats are reputed to give about the 100,000k mark.
