How can I determine if I have a LSD on a 1992 GQ Patrol (actually a Ford Maverick). Thanks in advance.

Couple of methods:
1. Put one wheel on grass, and the other on tar, drop the clutch, if the wheel on grass continues to spin, its not lsd
2. Jack up rear axle, so both wheels are off the ground, rotate one wheel by hand, if the other wheel rotates in the same direction, its lsd, if its the opposite direction, open diff

simpler method is to just jack one rear wheel up and if you can spin it freely, there is either no lsd or a very worn one. In any case, all GQ's/Mavs have lsd and a tough one at that - should be good for 200K kms...

Should have LSD anyway unless its a locker - change the oil if its not working If serious offroading use Penrite Limslip 140 (not 85/140 but 140 patrols/mavericks have the only lsd worth owning and the only one 140 is reccommended for) and youll be impressed and you r diff will work better last longer work quieter and not chatter.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. I am keen to know the abilities of my car before I get myself in any overly awkward situations (at this point we have only done moderate beach and track 4Wding). Is it only the rear diff that is LSD, or the front as well ? Thanks again.
