Could someone advise the sort of consumption figures that might be expected in one of these for highway use, moderately loaded, no trailer or roofracK and rolling along at about 100kmh? ie, not pushing it too much?
thanks

My imported cruiser is a 60 series turbo diesel auto. We get around 8.5km/l sitting on 110kmh. We often travel Perth - Geraldton and Perth - Esperance.

Thanks Brian. I am looking at a similar vehicle. It has a high roof and sunroof, but it doesn't have the 24 volt system, auto or turbo. Most encouraging. Do you have a long range tank fitted?

My 1985 60 with after market turbo on the road uses about 11-13 per 100.

All the best

Have a 1983 60 series diesel Sahara 5 speed with aftermarket Turbo. It is consistantly consistant whether driving around town or heading out west of approx 15 ltrs 100ks. When travelling between Toowoomba & Cunnamulla it uses this amount fully loaded with its bum on the ground and towing a heavy trailer with 4 people on board travelling in excess of the normal speed limit. I have had about 11 ltrs 100ks when doing about 80ks an hour.

Gday my old 2h aftermarket turbo 5 speed got as good as 10km/l when it had the fairley overdrive (1800rpm/100km/hr) to 7 km/litre loaded up in the outback, to 6 km/l loaded with caravan in tow, travelling around oz

Hi,

I have an HJ61 with 101,000kms on the clock, imported from Japan. Factory Turbo.

I've just completed a 4000km drive from Perth up the coast to Carnarvon, turned right to Gasgoyne Junction, left into Kennedy Ranges, then to Mt Augustus and through station tracks to Tom Price, Karijini, Newman and returning to Perth. No roof rack, one adult and two kids, fully loaded space wise but not heavy.

Sat on 100kmh on the GPS - about 107 on the speedo - on the bitumen, a bit less on the dirt.

Fuel consumption overall was 8.13km/l, 23mpg, 12.3 l/100km.

Weather was hot - over 40 degrees, and most of journey was without significant wind either for or against us.

I'd prefer to be getting more like 10km/l and this may be achievable at 80kmh.

Regards
Tim
