I'm hopping there's a couple of upholster's out there that can tell me what weight canvas they'd suggest being used on a camper. I've heard a couple of variations, 8oz walls and 12 oz roof and another was 10oz and 14 oz. Could be used for months at a time and in most areas of Oz.

Don't go any lighter than 10oz the most popular is 10oz walls with 12 to 14oz anti rip roof, you can go heavier as we did with 14.9oz walls with 16oz roof but you will find it harder to setup because of the extra weight and stiffness of the canvas.
Hope this helps.
Baz.

Both the Roof and walls on
mine are 12oz.
I have heard of a few using 8 oz walls , but someone mentioned to me the dangers of a peep show with lightweight walls . . .
Not something I have ever bothered to check . . . but might explain the whistles

Chap I spoke to suggested 10 oz all over. Finer weave canvas means better
water rejection? Thinner fibres equals better closure of the material?
Also try folding up thich canvas. Especially hard and heavy when wet.
Cheers,
Jim

He also suggested using different weights for roof and sides is not a good idea because they shrink at different rates.

Hello Austravel
Before you compare the weight of canvas you need to know whether the canvas weight quoted is before or after it was waterproofed/coated. Some manufacturers measure before and others after. Just confuses the rest of us.
