has anyone who fitted a snorkel to a 2.8 turbo deisel rodeo experienced more power and better fuel consumption due to the so called ram effect.

Hi shorty, the ram effect on a turbo is a bit of a misnomer.
Hard to imagine that the ram effect is going to be greater than the boost pressure.
The real breathing benefit is when you remove the original intake pipe off the air filter housing.. it is a restrictive 43 mm from memory.. and sucks the air off the top of the inner guard, hot air and a restrictive setup, even removing that alone and not using a snorkle is a benefit..engine a tad noisier because the airbox/muffler is removed.
Theoretically the more freely available air may slightly reduce the turbo lag.
I do have a snorkle on my rodeo, I find the higher intake point reduces thebleepgetting to the air filter.
