Hi All,
Here in the UK we only get 2 models both 3.0, a S model and a SVE model. The SVE model is loaded with every option available but it is the S model which might be of interest. The S model in the UK is extremely basic, air con and ABS thats it as far as extras go. But it is the new seating which makes this different, i guess the OZ model does not have it as no one has mentioned it, or the old one has it and we are just catching up. The back
seat on the S model slides back and forward for more luggage room or leg room depending on what you need, good idea. After reading a road test and other articles which also outlined some other engine changes in addition to the ones mentioned.
1) New injector pums and nozzles
2)Improvements to the friction surfaces inside the engine
3)Revised exhaust with less back pressure.
4)Re-designed seats for better comfort and legroom.
It is a fantastic road test comparing the old model with the new model.
This mag is a big fan of the patrol so almost every month a large article on the patrol. This is a hard core offroad mag and they love the patrol, says a lot for the old bus.
The final conclusion after a weeks drive with both of them.
If you loved the old one you still will love the new one. There is very little to get excited about but a massive relief that Nissan has left the important stuff
well alone. Is the new patrol an improvment over the old one? Not that we can see.
Do not know if you get the mag in OZ, but it is for hard core offroad and is
well written and tons of stuff on the patrol, if you get the chance have a look at it.
Not exactly legal but if anyone wants a photocopy of the road test i will scan it in and e-mail it to you.
Total Off Road is its name.

South African Nissan site also says that new body shape is more efficient and results in improved fuel economy.

Still a big brick though that has to be pushed through the air. If it is more fuel efficient I'd be very surprised if was related to areodynamics.

not everyone is obsessed in aerodynamics, the difference in the drag of 1 less than the last model nobody would know...
I'd rather a car with shape - gimme an old XP/XW over a BA taxi or a FJ/EH over a Commodore anyday.
.. sadly Nissan have gone @rse up on that too... Older GU owners must be dancing naked down the street, the value of theirs has risen $5000!

Last weekend I got 10.3L/100 out of my 3.0Di Auto SYD>Albury at the legal limit and 13.3 on the way back towing a 680Kg off road trailer, also at the legal limit, not sure how much they can improve on that!

Be interesting to see what they do with the seats here in Oz. Till now , its only been the Ti with sliding seats , and part of the reason I bought one.
Does anyone know if the ST-L's have sliding seats ?

Got the new brochure in my hand and no mention of sliding seats on any of the models. I only looked at the ST and DX models in the showroom so I don't the answer.
