Folks,
I am in a dilema. I have a 92 MJ single cab Mitsubishi Triton 4wd - with Sunrasia 15" rims. They currently have a new set of Hancocks 30x9.50x15LT.
I have just bought a similar dual cab - same model MJ 1995 Mitsubishi triton 4wd. It currently has the the standard 16 " rims with 225x75x16 federal tyres.
Was thinking off putting the sunrasia rims on the new dual cab. Which tyre/rim combination out of the two is better - keep the 16"'s or put on the 15" . (obviously Sunrasias look better) If you put the 2 side by side, it appears that the tyres are the same height/circumference - so wouldnt expect a drop in top end speed (is that right)
Whats the differnce in ride/handling/fuel economy and replacement cost - I hear 16" tyres are dearer than 15" ? Majority of driving will be bitumen, but hope to get into some beach action this summer?
Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Help?

before you get carried away make sure the inside brake clearance is ok - one of the reasons for 16" rims (apart from fashion) is to put on larger brakes. rgds

I got an '03, 15's fit fine, plenty of clearance. Tyres for the 15's seem to be cheaper.

So is there any difference in performance? Speed or fuel economy?
Cheers

Yes, definitely! I have a 91 Triton & have both 225x16 tyres & 30x9.5s.
The latter use about 5-10% more fuel BUT give a wider track with better cornering
and handling generally & due to lower pressures , a betterride so you pays you money & makes yer choice. The 30,s should last a bit longer to compensate.
I have just done 10,000kms to
Cooktown & back on 225,s on all sorts of roads & tracks with good economy & no trouble but the 30,s would have given better all round feel!
