Big job, I had my old truck stripped and re done for $150. I couldn't justify spending 2 or 3 days stripping the old stuff off and doing a crap job.

Just bought a rangie as well, and may be getting another, one to be used as parts. Love em'! You just restoring or modding as well?

I remember years and years ago, when a friend was married that someone wrote "just married" on the inside of the back window with shaving cream. He had to take off the rest of the tint as it had eaten off where it was written. So give that a go.

I have used this method with reasonable success, but used glad wrap instead of a garbage bag.The secret is allowing the ammonia to soak in without letting it dry out too much.-Steve

I worked as a tinter for 7 years and this is very similar to what we did. Windex helps in removing the glue, or "3m Glass and Laminate Cleaner". Get lots of new razor blades and don't be affraid to change them as having blunt blades is when you scratch the glass.

It is a bugger of a job too.

Just done this myself in under a day i n my Pajero, get yourself a bottle of Glue remover or similar. Remove the film from the window by carefully peeling (hard to get a start), once the old film is removed - spray with Glue remover (available from Super Cheap) then wipe off.
When replacing the film be sure to use a 50/50 soap water mix to allow positioning of the film.

if you mean window tint, every company uses different adhesive.

We had a window tint bloke come to our club giving a speil on what the darkest legal etc etc...

he doesnt like to take jobs on that you have to remove the stuff.. he has taken a full day to clear 1 window before - how do you charge people for that?

Hair dryer didnt dobleephe said, same with some acids!

Persist is all he said, mm at a time

all you need is a razor blade scaper & an d a spray bottle of water
spray the window with water as you scrape it with the blade
the water stops the glue sticking to the glass, it shoiuldn't take any more than 20 min per window.

Be careful!!! I don't know where you live, but here in S A, daylight saving starts this weekend.

Your curtains will fade faster...
Cows will give warmer milk....
And...
The extra sunlight allowed to enter the Range Rover will allow that trademark roof liner to sag all that more further!!

Had my Delica done extra black, they had to remove the tint that was put on in Japan, probably for glare, mind you. They just used a scraper, and a spray bottle. Guess they must of been lucky, but they weren't fazes to begin with.

If you have any problems, I have a little Japanese Spitz you can borrow. Just put him in the car, wind the windows up, open a packet of chips and start eating then slowly, whilst walking around the outside of the car. Any bits he misses, just go back and open another bag of chips....

Cheers

As mentioned before, a sharp scraper is required. The secret ingredient is dishwashing liquid (approx. 1/3 mix) in a spray bottle. My brother in law gave this info and it worked a treat. Rather than chipping away and taking ages (1 window took me nearly an hour) after I had sprayed the remaining windows with the magic mix, they only took me a total of 20 minutes to complete the job.

Promise yourself a beer when the job is finished as an incentive. Works for me.
Cheers
