Ssangyong is now an independant manufacturer, after being sold by Daewoo.

Ssangyong makes it ...very silly question

ssangyong has unforantly been in recevership since daewoo went belly up. China's Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp will hopefully sign a deal later this week and bail them out.The good news they been tradeing very well over the last 18 months and have a fairly good trade share of the market.

Now for the bad news news parts will start to get hard to find unless the newly restructed company will surport its old products. I wouldnt hold your breath.

what does the refloat of the company means to australia ....well China's Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp have some large contracts with GM \Merc so in the future we might see some rebadge models coming in to OZ under the GM banner.
In the mean time the currant situation with old inderpedent Daewoo dealer's still dealing with SSangyong will contnue for a few years yet.

Ssangyong are now exporting the new musso into Australia under there own name, they are from Korea and owned by them selves now. They have been partly owned by mercedes, then by daewoo then by GM.
They are using lots of merc parts under an agreement with mercedes.
The spare parts situation is also on the upward direction. This making parts more available for the end customer but be warned that the prices can be very high.
dealers are sprouting up every where.
The Musso station wagon is not being produced or imported into austalia anymore but the ute is.
Hope this helps you collect those beers.
