DINGO HILL track will re-open this week at the end of the Seasonal Closures period. The track closed in early January 1998 during the Caledonia Valley fires. Thanks should go to everyone who assisted over the years.

The Dingo Hill Track was one on the tracks targeted in the Caledonia petition and the Docklands Rally on the 24th March 2001.

Sadly Bruce all the tracks are normally made with a D9 or a grader, It seems to be a bit to much effort to build a track with a shovel these days.

It is the same with a lot of the tracks since the fires they have been upgraded to allow safer fire access and so making the track somewhat easier for a 4wd.
I guess with time some of these will degrade to a standard that may be more enjoyable for a 4wd enthusiast, But remember they are not made for us but for fire access and management use, we just happen to reap a benefit of access to most of them being available to us.

Thats Interesting John as some of the newer maps don't have Dingo Hill or the Caledonia River tracks on them. I thought this meant that they were never going to be opened again. I haven't been in there for 10+ years but it is a great place.

I won't be, I will be up in the best part of the world, The Alpine National Park / Avon Wilderness.
Will think of all the masses stacked up at Robe to get over every sand dune whilst I am sitting by the camp fire with a cold one.
