Hi all
Just a quick thanks to John at Denco Diesel.
We received our turbo kit for the 80 Series yesterday and I thought I would let everybody know how quick, efficient and co-operative John was.
I didn't expect to have it arrive at my workshops door step that quick.
All I have to do now is hope the exhaust manifold studs don't all break as I remove them. I have been spraying them with rost off for a week now.
Will keep everybody posted about the fitment of the kit.
Cheers for now

Would this be a good time to mention the benefits of an EGT gauge for turbo-diesels???
[Sorry, couldn't resist the chance of a quick plug!] My site is here.

I've fitted a couple of their kits now.. One did have a few missin things, but they were expressed overnight so wasnt an issue as we picked up Tuesday for fitting on weekend. So have a look. The kits are so simple to fit, that Im shocked as to why some
places charge so much for fitting.
Exhaust studs are an issue, so have some easy outs ready.. We snapped 3 on a mates GQ, which is didnt bother fixing one stud, as it was is right where the firewall is and couldnt get easy out in there...
It would pay to take a run to Denco for final tuning. I had 3-4 "EXPERT"
places have a go, and charge me accordingly, and had NO joy, it was also running VERY VERY hot... 1/2 a day at denco, goes better and runs under 1/4 now on temp gauge... You can also play spot the girl WITHOUT a pram (same as spot the aussie in cabramatta) in Wagga shops while you wait...
I run a VDO Boost,VDO EGT and VDO Temp gauges, all in a dashpod, looks brilliant, and easy to fit too. WOrth having an EGT, you can drive off of that, when temps get too high, you know to back off before melting things.

Agree about fitting.
Agree about supposed experts and the importance of tuning. Would add that you need to keep going back every 10,000 for a tune to keep at optimum level, seems to slip a little over that period of time.
Agree about cabramatta, I'd even bet $50 that you wouldn't see an aussie for 10 minutes!
EGT I reckon is imperative on any turbo vehicle. I know of a guy that had his standard turbo glowing like a cherry on a hilux, motor was running at half, didn't have a clue bout' the turbo.

I had a Denco kit on my 80 series, if the kits are still the same as when I got
mine you re-use the flexi fitting between the engine pipe and the exhaust. Just make sure you re fit it the correct way around as it is like a windsock on the inside and will collapse and block your exhaust if fitted around the wrong way (this happened to
mine). Aside from that problem it was a good reliable and effective setup which I was very happy with. Is it a schwitzer or garret turbo?.
Enjoy the extra grunt !!!!!
