Went exploring in the Brindies today and came across a fairly new RAV4, going on the wreckage uphill, they have come down a
hill I wouldn't be real comfortable doing in my car. It's rolled and it's an absolute write off!!!
I let the police know in case it was stolen "Not stolen the owner has reported it as being there??" Must have been testing it's capabilities, he has a definite idea of what it can't do now!!

Note the tree was the only thing that stopped it going further

Hi Steve,
When you edit your post, in the bottom left of the window it says "To Post Hyperlinks:" - just wrap the html poop either side of your link, and then where it says 'link text' give it a name that it will display..
Catchya mate

Haven't been to Abercrombie NP, but the Brindies have a wide variety of roads, you can have a pleasent day drive or really test yourself.
First snow falls or decent rain and then the whole dynamic changes, what was an easy drive become a skating rink on clay.
This guy picked a great hilll to challenge himself on and in fairness to the RAV4 the driver probably wasn't up to the challenge!!

Steep, rutted, rocky but no real ledges.
If we owned a second vehicle and it was a little more like an outback challenge vehicle then maybe I would have thought about it. SWMBO's words were ringing in my ears "Remember this is our only vehicle, if you damage it don't come back"
Might have considered coming down, but I'm sure my heart rate would've been through the roof if I did. Not an impossible climb but extremely difficult.

Wow, it makes you wonder what the hell was going through the mind of this person. Maybe been brainwashed from advertising and thought they could go anywhere.

By the look of the tree in photo 7, I would say it was not the first car to give it a nudge.

Not far from Vanity Crossing, we started off on the other side of Brindabella Rd and then came back through Vanity's on the way home!!
Are you from around here, or do you know the area??

Hi Steve, yes I'm from
Canberra too...
well Queanbeyan. Go into the Brindies quite often.
I know someone with a RAV which has been lifted, and BFG A/T on it, it will go a lot of
places more than a standard RAV, but of course is let down with lack of low range.

Oh what a feeling --- Toy--- oh --- tah.
Perhaps there should be a
plaque on the sun visor - 'warning, this car should not be taken off the bitumen', but then camels can't read.

Hadn't been 4wding as such since before our trip to
Townsville so was itching to give the 4wd a good reason for a wash!!
Glad the explorer is 4wding better now, you'll have to make a return visit here so we can test it out in the Brindies

I used to love the those rangers......
Leave from the cotter up to piccadilly then across to tumut or down to the bridge and head south ademinby..... on road bike half the time in snow. the worse part was the climb or decent to the bridge on the western side of it. Used to scare the willies out of me 2 am in the morning cutting across to tumut.
